Product managers pride themselves on being data-driven. They run experiments, analyse metrics, and make evidence-based decisions. But behind every dashboard and every customer interview sits a human brain with a full suite of cognitive biases, and those biases are shaping product decisions in ways that are difficult to see from the inside.
At PR_D_CT DAY 2025 in Ghent, Servaas Strobbe from Tekst delivered a talk that held up a mirror to the audience. Rather than discussing abstract psychology, Servaas focused on the specific biases that are most dangerous in product management contexts and shared concrete techniques for recognising and counteracting them.
The talk struck a nerve. Several audience members later described it as the session that made them most uncomfortable, precisely because it challenged the assumption that good intentions and good data are sufficient protection against flawed reasoning.
