Product teams spend months building features and then cross their fingers that users will adopt them. When adoption falls short, the post-mortem usually identifies a lack of marketing, poor timing, or insufficient training. Rarely does the team ask the more fundamental question: was adoption predictable before we shipped?
At PR_D_CT DAY 2025 in Ghent, Kaat Declerck from Human Eyes presented a framework that reframes adoption from an outcome you hope for to an outcome you can systematically predict and influence. Drawing on behavioural science research and her consulting experience with European product companies, Kaat argued that the predictors of adoption are knowable and measurable long before a single line of code is written.
The talk provided a rigorous alternative to the optimism bias that pervades most product launches, giving the audience practical tools to assess adoption risk early and design for adoption from the outset.
