Not every product journey follows a clean trajectory from idea to scale. At PR_D_CT DAY 2024, Florian De Boeck, Co-founder and Head of Products at Spentys, shared the winding path his company took from selling physical 3D-printed medical devices to becoming a digital platform for orthopedic professionals. The story spans seven years, multiple pivots, a pandemic, and several fundamental reassessments of what the product actually is and who it serves.
Spentys is a medical technology company that enables orthopedic technicians to leverage 3D technologies for manufacturing orthoses and prostheses. With over 15,000 devices delivered, more than 150 orthopedic technicians in 16 countries using the platform, and over one million euros in annual revenue, the company has found traction. But getting there required a willingness to completely rethink the business model, the target customer, and the product itself at each critical juncture.
